Brenda you are a lady of many talents. I hear you have just returned to Australia after many years of travel, where have been and what drew you back to Brisbane, Australia?
Brisbane is my home town. I grew up in South East Queensland and when I say “home” this is where my heart is. My family are all living here including 3 wonderful grandchildren so this is what always draws me back to this area. I began my spiritual journey here 17 years ago. I turned 40 and my passion for seeking and sharing spiritual concepts began. The catalyst for this was a book that literally fell at my feet in the library. It was Shirley McLean’s “Out on a Limb” and I have been living on that limb and reaching for apples ever since!

I very quickly realised that it was not enough to read about sacred sights and the religions of the world and so I liberated myself from my possessions and began a lifestyle of work and travel to the places in the world that I had dreamt about and that were calling me.

My first trip was to Stonehenge in UK and that was the first of 5 trips altogether to that country. I also visited Europe a couple of times and more recently have been involved in walks for Peace in USA where I have visited twice and I am planning another trip possibly for 11.11.11. In between these trips, I have returned to Australia and have travelled extensively throughout all of the States.

I undertook a pilgrimage in 2002, led by Aboriginal ancestral spirits that I connected to during time spent in a rural part of Victoria at the base of the Ottways. This pilgrimage took me from Barongarook to Mt. Beerwah, to Uluru and back to The Ottways. I connected with many beautiful aboriginal women who helped me to understand my journey in terms of Rainbow Serpent Dreaming. This experience gave new meaning to my travels and it was then that I consciously took on the role of Lightworker in service for the Earth and humanity.

I am currently in Brisbane to connect more deeply with my family and to anchor here for a time of stability and consolidation of my experiences. I also hope to begin the journey of writing about my journeys of the last 17 years.

What came first the artist or the medium? How did all of these skills combine?
The artist in me definitely arrived first. In fact it was just after my 12th birthday that I realised that I could draw! At the same time I was experiencing a lot of psychic stirrings but I very quickly shut that down. At that age, one doesn’t want to be out of step with friends and they were beginning to view me as a bit “weird”. While I managed to ignore the prophetic dreams and visions and the lights around people, plants and animals, I did not connect the spontaneous drawing of faces “from my imagination” that occurred right through my teens with any psychic ability. Once I married and started a family I was just too busy to draw I thought, and put my art things in a box. I remember vividly thinking in that moment that 40 would be a good age to start drawing and painting again.

Low and behold, I turned 40, read Shirley McLean’s book and had what can only be described as a “spiritual awakening”. I “woke up” literally overnight and in a hugely dynamic way. I immediately swung into ecstatic states of bliss, but then of course the pendulum would swing into my shadow aspects so for a time it was quite uncomfortable. I was beautifully supported by Spirit and by many wonderful friends who understood and helped with healing and wisdom to bring me into a more balanced way of being. One of the first steps I made in this healing journey was with a dear friend who introduced and attuned me to Reiki.

I then was compelled to start drawing the beautiful beings that I was seeing around me. After showing a healer that had helped me, he told me I was a psychic artist and that I could do this for other people. He also helped me to start my career in this by setting up a place for me at a Psychic Fair and my commitment and dedication to working for Spirit began.

Since then, I studied many healing modalities and techniques both here in Australia and overseas and while I draw on these abilities in my healing sessions, I find that my Ascension Path Healing sessions today are unique to each individual and mostly channelled in the moment rather than following a prescribed format.

Your psychic art is just beautiful Brenda, what medium do you use?
I work almost exclusively in pastel these days. Because I travel so extensively, I find that they are light in weight, vibrant in colour and energy and produce a soft richness that I love when drawing portraits particularly.

I produce 2 sizes according to the needs of my client and stick to A4 & A3 because it is easy to find frames that are available in chain stores. It is best to keep pastel paintings under glass because they are quite fragile and easily smudged. I do spray the paintings with a fixative, but that is only a help and they do not stand up to being touched.

I do place smaller A4 paintings in clear plastic folders though, if my client wishes to use the painting in a very practical, hands on way for meditation, sleeping with the image under their pillow, placing them in luggage when travelling etc.

Do your clients need to be with you in person, to be able to connect?
Not at all! I have clients from all over the world and whether my client is in the room with me, across the street or across the world, time and space has no bearing on my ability to tune in to my clients energy field to complete healings and spirit guide portraits.

On your website, you show an image of a clients drawing where the similarities to their passed loved one are remarkable. (see images above) Does this happen regularly?
Family members and friends who have passed do come in quite regularly. I cannot however guarantee that they will because when I tune in to my client, it is with the intention that the portrait be of the guide that is most important for them to know about in that moment. If there are issues related to the ancestral line either through health or inherited emotions patterning, then a family member may come through. Sometimes, it is important that my client is aware that a relative who has passed over is safely “on the other side” so they may come through with a message of comfort. If, at a soul level it is more important that higher wisdom come through during a time of grieving and loss, then this is what will appear. It is out of my hands really what comes through. I am merely the conduit to facilitate the connection.

Do you always connect with their spirit guide? Can you ask for a passed loved one to come through?
Our spiritual guidance comes from many beings in all levels and dimensions. At any given time, we have an entourage of several guides with us with many more waiting “in the wings” so to speak to come forward. It is an especially powerful time on the Planet right now so the opportunities have never been greater to connect with many different types of guidance. My intention at all times is to bring through from spirit the guide that is most appropriate in the “now” moment. If that happens to be a loved one, so be it, if the most appropriate one is an angel or ascended master that is equally “perfect”

Can you share a memorable story, of a session when your art has changed someones life in an amazing way?
There are so many beautiful stories of these types of experiences. One that comes to mind is a Japanese friend of mine who requested a spirit guide at a time when she was very ill and desperate for solutions to her health problems. She is a very special soul and a fabulous galactic being of Light came through for her. This opened her eyes to a realm of possibilities beyond her traditional views of ancestral guidance and now, not only has she greatly recovered from her health problems, she is currently travelling the world meeting healers and readers and creating an on-line remote healing on-line facility so that the people of Japan who don’t ordinarily hear about western innovations in healing can also open to knew wisdom and understanding. This young woman is multilingual and translates into Japanese the wisdom of what the world has to offer.

When you are drawing/ painting Spirit Guides and others in Spirit, do they stay around and pass on messages? Do they ever correct you? Meaning do they offer suggestions on how to improve their likeness?
Yes, the guides do bring through messages of wisdom and encouragement. They mostly make sure that my client knows why they are with them, how they are helping them in their daily lives and how they can use the knowledge of their presence to further their spiritual path to enlightenment. The guides never correct me as such. On the contrary, I often try to correct the image myself if my head gets in the way and I think that the nose is too big or a line is in the wrong position. I can try as hard as I like, but the pastel simply refuses to make the change!

Do you see theses guides like you see your sitter, or do you create their image from a knowing and feelings you get in a meditative state?
No, I don’t actually see with my physical eyes at all. I simply intend that the guide will come through and I still, to this day use the same technique I used when I was 12 years old. I begin by drawing my energy within using my breath, my own healing guides (there are 3 different ones) will come close around my right shoulder and my right arm and when I “know” to begin, the pastel takes off on the page and I observe the image appearing on the page at the same time as my client. As the image is being drawn, the messages come through bit at a time. My client is free to ask questions during the process.

Brenda you also have a Meditation CD, can you tell us more about this and the inspiration behind it?
I produced a trilogy of CD’s in 2009 which coincided with a series of 9 paintings I completed representing a journey through nine levels of ascension. This series of paintings were completed as a personal initiation to prepare for a walk for Peace in USA the following year from New York City to Atlanta, Georgia. The CD’s consist of 9 inspirational journeys relating to the paintings, 3 journeys to a CD. Using both the audio and visual representations acts as a powerful activation towards oneness with all of creation.

The price for a set of 3 CD’s is $75.00 and can be ordered and paid for via my website www.brendakayart.com reproductions of the paintings are also available for $10 (A4) and $15 (A3)

You also work as a healer, can you tell me what other services you offer and how people can contact you?
As a healer, I have developed a style that is unique to each individual for each session. No two sessions are alike and while I do use some established techniques from the many modalities I have studied, the sessions are directly channelled from Spirit. My focus is in clearing past traumas, karmic cords and contracts, past life scenarios and aspects etc. so that my client come come to a space of clarity in order to create a positive reality for their future.

I offer 30min ($50), 60min.($80) and 90min.($110) sessions

Brenda, what would you recommend as the most transformative service that you offer?
For a truly dynamic and life changing experience, I would recommend a 5 day intensive, one-on-one retreat on Bribie Island, Queensland. All of the tools at my disposal are utilised during this event.

The first 2 days of this retreat involves breaking down barriers to your forward movement using many release techniques structured to suit your individual needs. The middle day is an integration day where I take my client to sacred aboriginal sights in and around the famous Glass House Mountains. The energy of these sights can then be used to facilitate a “birthing” into a new phase of the journey. The final two days are about manifesting a reality that is in alignment with my clients highest divine blueprint.
